Matt and Kim
Well, the working week has kicked off again, and I’ve already begun thinking about how I will cope. Enter Matt and Kim, a drum n’ keys duo from Brooklyn. Like a couple 10 year old’s who’ve gotten a hold of a sixer of Jolt, Matt and Kim kick out a furious blast of dance punk energy that get even the most obstinate introvert to lose his or her shit on the floor.
I Dig a couple of tracks their new album, Grand. “Lessons Learned” with its reverb-y female vocals is a catchy tune and is sure to put a bounce in your step. My personal favorite is the track “Cinder” which doesn’t really feature any vocals aside from the combustible “1 2 3 4,” but it’s like having a rainbow shot through your brain at 100 miles an hour. Matt and Kim is Joyous music indeed.
You can find them in LA on the August 27th at the El Rey Theater or in San Francisco at Outside Lands on Sunday, Aug. 30th. -ND
